Lounge Lizard

No, it's not a mirage. What you see to the right is a large lizard lazing on a boogie board in the Atlantic Ocean.

We saw this yesterday while we were lazing at Smith Point Beach to beat the heat wave. (It's close to 100 here, which means like 155 on the rooftop in Great Neck that I'm supposed to be working on, so I'm closing down shop until hell moves back to Bakersfield or Houston or Saudi Arabia, or wherever it comes from.)

My wackometer started clicking as soon as I saw the lizard's owners, mostly because Pa Lizard was wearing a long-sleeve camouflage jacket to the beach on the hottest day of the year.
Sure enough, they set up next to us and out came the iguana, just short of the "No Pets Permitted Past This Point" sign. They all basked in the sun, then Ma Lizard took her pride and joy down to play in the surf so he could cool off a little once his blood got up to the 150-160 degree range. Then he caught some waves.
